This tour is perfect for travelers who appreciate nature, light to moderate activity, and cultural immersion. No previous horse-riding experience is required — the horses are calm and well-trained, and local guides accompany you at all times. Beginners can enjoy short, easy rides, while guests who prefer not to ride can opt out and continue the journey by vehicle instead.
Your journey begins in Bishkek with a comfortable morning departure toward the Chui Valley. The first stop is Burana Tower, an ancient 11th-century minaret and one of the most important historical landmarks in Kyrgyzstan. Here, explore the open-air museum, walk among ancient balbal stone statues, and climb the tower for panoramic views over the surrounding plains — a perfect introduction to the country’s Silk Road heritage.
Continuing east, the road leads to Kok-Moinok Canyon, a lesser-known natural gem characterized by colorful clay formations, narrow passages, and dramatic rock shapes. A light walk through the canyon allows time to stretch your legs, take photos, and enjoy the quiet atmosphere far from crowded tourist routes. A picnic lunch is served in nature, surrounded by wide open landscapes.
In the afternoon, the journey continues toward Kochkor Village, a traditional settlement known for its handicrafts and nomadic traditions. Upon arrival, check into a local guesthouse and enjoy a warm home-style dinner prepared by your hosts. The evening offers a relaxed introduction to rural life in Kyrgyzstan and time to rest before the upcoming mountain adventure.
After breakfast, transfer to the horse trekking starting point. Meet your local guide and horse before riding through lush summer pastures dotted with grazing sheep and horses. The trail gradually ascends toward Tuz-Ashuu Pass (3,400 m).
From the top, a breathtaking panorama reveals Song-Kol Lake, a vast alpine lake resting on a high plateau. Descend toward the lakeshore and arrive at a traditional yurt camp run by nomadic families. Spend the evening walking by the lake, learning about nomadic life, and enjoying freshly prepared local dishes
In the morning, ride back toward Kyzart Village, enjoying final views of Song-Kol’s open landscapes. After lunch with local hosts, continue by vehicle toward Issyk-Kul Lake, the world’s second-largest alpine lake.
The drive reveals stunning contrasts as high mountains give way to blue waters and semi-desert landscapes. Arrive at a guesthouse on the southern shore, where the evening is free to relax by the lake.
Today is dedicated to the highlights of Issyk-Kul’s southern shore. Optionally, meet a traditional eagle hunter (burkutchu) to witness this ancient nomadic skill. Continue to Skazka (Fairy Tale) Canyon, famous for its colorful rock formations shaped by wind and time.
Later, visit Barskoon Gorge with its waterfalls, followed by Jeti-Oguz, known for striking red sandstone cliffs. By evening, arrive in Karakol, where dinner is served at a well-known local restaurant.
After breakfast, drive to Ak-Suu Village and begin your trek into Altyn-Arashan Valley. The trail follows a river through alpine meadows and forests, with snow-capped peaks rising above.
Arrive in the valley by afternoon and check into a mountain guesthouse. Enjoy time to soak in the natural hot springs, known for their relaxing and healing properties.
Alternative: horse riding or off-road transfer by UAZ vehicle.
Return to Karakol on foot along the same scenic trail, now descending. After lunch, drive along the northern shore of Issyk-Kul toward Chong-Kemin National Park, a peaceful area at the foot of the Kungey Ala-Too Mountains.
Enjoy a quiet evening in nature and a traditional dinner at the guesthouse.
Drive back to Bishkek with a stop at Burana Tower, an 11th-century Silk Road minaret surrounded by ancient stone statues. Continue to Bishkek for a city tour including Ala-Too Square and Osh Bazaar.
The tour ends in Bishkek with warm farewells.
