Itinerary

Day 1.BISHKEK-BURANA TOWER-SONG KOL LAKE

Your journey begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Bishkek. Drive east and stop at the historic Burana Tower, an 11th-century Silk Road minaret. Climb to the top for panoramic views of the Chuy Valley and explore the ancient balbal stones.

Continue south into the Kyrgyz Ala-Too mountains, ascending the scenic Kalmak-Ashuu Pass (3,400m). From the top, enjoy breathtaking views before descending to Song-Kol Lake – a vast turquoise alpine lake surrounded by green meadows and snow-capped peaks.

Settle into a traditional yurt camp on the lakeshore. Enjoy a hearty Kyrgyz dinner and spectacular stargazing.

Day 2.HORSE RIDING BY SONG-KOL LAKE – ROAD TRIP TO TASH-BASHAT VILLAGE

Wake early to witness the sunrise over Song-Kol Lake – a magical moment as the first light touches the water. After breakfast, enjoy horse riding along the lakeshore (3-4 hours). The terrain is gentle and suitable for riders of all experience levels. No horse riding experience is required! Our horses are calm and well-trained.

As you ride, you’ll have the opportunity to visit nomadic families, observe traditional herding, and take in stunning panoramic views of the turquoise lake.

After lunch, bid farewell to Song-Kol and drive to Tash-Bashat Village (approximately 4-5 hours). The route takes you through scenic mountain landscapes and traditional villages. Tash-Bashat is a village deeply connected to Kyrgyz traditions. Check into a guesthouse – your first night with private facilities and Wi-Fi after the yurt camp.

Day 3.VISIT KEL-SUU LAKE

Today’s off-road adventure takes you deeper into the mountains toward remote Kel-Suu Lake, near the Chinese border. A border permit is required and included.

The drive (approximately 5-6 hours) takes you through the beautiful At-Bashy Valley, crossing Kyndy Pass (3,500m). Descend into the vast Ak-Say Valley, where you’ll see traditional yurts and herders tending to yaks and horses.

Arrive at your yurt camp near Kel-Suu Lake in the late afternoon. After settling in, you can take a short walk to the lake to witness the stunning turquoise waters surrounded by towering cliffs.

Day 4.ROAD TRIP TO YSYK-KOL LAKE

After breakfast, depart Kel-Suu and drive north toward the legendary Ysyk-Kol Lake. The drive takes you through Naryn City and over scenic mountain passes to the southern shore of Ysyk-Kol Lake (approximately 5-6 hours). Lunch on the way at a restaurant.

Arrive in Bokonbaevo, a village on the southern shore famous for eagle hunting traditions. Check into a guesthouse with beautiful views of the “Pearl of Central Asia.”

Day 5.EXPLORE THE SOUTH SHORE OF YSYK-KOL LAKE

Today you’ll explore the spectacular southern shore of Ysyk-Kol Lake.

Start with a captivating eagle hunting demonstration with a local berkutchi – an ancient nomadic tradition passed down through generations. Watch as the magnificent golden eagle responds to its master’s commands.

Continue to Skazka Canyon (“Fairy Tale Canyon”) – a surreal landscape of wind-sculpted sandstone in vibrant red, orange, and yellow hues, resembling castles, dragons, and mythical creatures.

Visit Barskoon Waterfall – a powerful cascade in a lush gorge. A short hike brings you close enough to feel the refreshing mist.

Drive to Jeti-Oguz Valley, famous for its dramatic red rock formations – the iconic “Seven Bulls” and the legendary “Broken Heart” rock.

Drive to your guesthouse in Karakol for overnight.

Day 6.OFF-ROAD TRIP TO ALTYN-ARASHAN GORGE

Board a classic Soviet-era UAZ 4×4 vehicle for a rugged off-road journey into the Altyn Arashan Valley (“Golden Spa”).

The 16-kilometer off-road journey winds through dense pine forests, crosses mountain streams, and climbs through dramatic terrain.

Upon arrival in the pristine alpine valley (2,500m), enjoy the famous natural hot springs. Soak in the mineral-rich waters surrounded by snow-capped peaks including Palatka Peak (5,200m).

Stay overnight in a guesthouse in the valley.
