Itinerary

Day 1. Bishkek → Burana Tower → Kok Moinok Canyon → Kochkor

Drive: 220 km / ~4–5 hrs

  • Morning departure from Bishkek, driving through the fertile Chui Valley.
  • Visit the Burana Tower, a UNESCO-listed 11th-century minaret that once guided Silk Road caravans. Walk among the ancient balbals (stone warrior statues) and learn about Kyrgyzstan’s early history.
  • Continue to Kok Moinok Canyon, a spectacular gorge of red and yellow sandstone cliffs shaped by centuries of wind and water. Short hike and photo stop.
  • Arrive in Kochkor village, known for its handicrafts and nomadic culture.
  • Experience a felt-making demonstration, where local women show how traditional shyrdaks (felt carpets) are made.
  • Enjoy a lively folk performance, with Kyrgyz songs, instruments, and dances.

Day 2. Kochkor → Bokonbaevo → Issyk-Kul Lake

Drive: 160 km / ~3 hrs

  • After breakfast, drive towards Bokonbaevo village, located on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake.
  • Stop at the Ak-Say Canyon, with its colorful layered cliffs and sweeping views of the lake.
  • In the afternoon, attend an eagle hunting show, where a skilled berkutchi (eagle hunter) demonstrates how golden eagles have been trained for centuries to hunt foxes and hares on the open steppe.
  • Continue to your yurt camp on the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake. Spend the evening enjoying a traditional dinner and relaxing by the water. On clear nights, the star-filled sky above the lake is truly unforgettable.

  • Continue the journey back to Bishkek.
  • Upon arrival, enjoy a short city tour, visiting:

Ala-Too Square, the city’s central landmark
Oak Park, with its Soviet-era monuments and sculptures
Osh Bazaar, bustling with spices, fruits, and colorful goods

Conclude the tour with a farewell lunch before departure or transfer to your hotel/airport.
