Itinerary

Day 1.Bishkek – Burana – Song-Kol

Distance: 302 km, 4–5 hours

Description: Early departure from Bishkek. Visit the Burana Tower and historical ruins — an important Silk Road landmark. Continue through Kalmak-Ashuu Pass with stunning mountain and valley views. Arrive at Song-Kol Lake and settle in a yurt camp by the lakeside. Spend the afternoon exploring and interacting with nomadic shepherds. Enjoy a traditional Kyrgyz dinner and relax under the stars.

Meals: Lunch at café, dinner at yurt camp
Overnight: Yurt camp
Facilities: Shared WC outside, no internet
Notes: Altitude 3,000 m – high altitude, dress warmly and be prepared for cooler temperatures at
night.
Good to know: Bring layers, sturdy shoes, and a flashlight for nighttime. Limited mobile signal and no Wi-Fi, so embrace the unplugged experience!

Day 2.Song-Kol – Bokonbaevo

Distance: 230 km, 4 — 5 hours

Description: Morning departure from Song-Kol Lake. Take a peaceful walk along the lake or enjoy panoramic mountain views. After lunch, drive to Bokonbaevo town by Issyk-Kul Lake. In the evening, watch an eagle hunting demonstration by skilled falconers showcasing the ancient Kyrgyz tradition. Enjoy a delicious Kyrgyz dinner.

Day 3.Bokonbaevo – Fairytale Canyon – Barskoon – Jeti-Oguz – Karakol

Distance: 170 km, 3–4 hours

Description: Start from Bokonbaevo and visit Fairytale Canyon with its vibrant red sandstone formations. Then hike to Barskoon Waterfall, enjoy natural scenery. Visit Jeti-Oguz, famous for the Seven Bulls rock formation. Arrive in Karakol, explore the Russian Orthodox Church, and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant with traditional dishes.

Meals: Breakfast at guesthouse, picnic lunch, dinner at restaurant
Overnight: Guesthouse

Notes: Moderate hiking involved; wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

Day 4.Karakol – Bishkek

Distance: 420 km, 6 – 7 hours

Description: Drive back to Bishkek via scenic routes along Issyk-Kul Lake and Terskey Ala-Too Mountains. Stop at Kyrchyn Valley (site of World Nomad Games) for photos. Lunch lakeside at Cholpon-Ata. Arrive in Bishkek for a farewell dinner and overnight stay.

Meals: Breakfast at hotel, lunch at café, dinner at restaurant

Overnight: Hotel

Notes: Long driving day; be prepared for a full day on the road.

Good to know: Stretch your legs during stops. Try local dishes at the farewell dinner to wrap up your trip!
